Matrix raw materials are a type of main raw material for skincare products. They are the basic substances that constitute various skin care products, such as cream, milk, essence, etc., and determine the texture, stability and sensory experience of the products. Although they may not be as glamorous as active ingredients, they are the cornerstone of product efficacy.
1.Oil based raw materials – nourishing and protecting
Fats: They can provide lubrication, soften the skin, help lock in moisture, and prevent skin dryness.
Wax: Wax is an ester composed of high carbon fatty acids and high carbon fatty alcohols. This ester plays a role in improving stability, regulating viscosity, reducing greasiness, and forming a protective layer to reduce water loss in skincare products.
Hydrocarbons: Hydrocarbons commonly used in skincare products include liquid paraffin, solid paraffin, brown coal wax, and petroleum jelly.
Synthetic raw materials: Common synthetic oil raw materials include squalane, silicone oil, polysiloxane, fatty acids, fatty alcohols, fatty acid esters, etc.
2. Powdery raw materials – shapers of form and texture
Powder raw materials are mainly used in powder cosmetics, such as talcum powder, perfume powder, powder, lipstick, rouge and eye shadow. Powdery ingredients play multiple roles in cosmetics, including providing coverage, increasing smoothness, promoting adhesion, absorbing oil, sun protection, and improving product extensibility
Inorganic powders: such as talcum powder, kaolin, bentonite, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, titanium dioxide, diatomaceous earth, etc., mainly used to provide smoothness and extensibility of products, making the skin feel more delicate.
Organic powders: Zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, polyethylene powder, microcrystalline cellulose, polystyrene powder.
